Prompt of the Day:
“What are 5 ChatGPT (or your AI product of choice) hacks that people don’t know?”
————–
Okay. We learned some information that first made us MAD. Then we went – HMMMMM!
LinkedIn surveyed 31K people across 31 countries on AI in the workspace. These folks had some THOUGHTS about using AI at work. You can read the results here.
Some things that surprised us:
- 66% of leaders say they wouldn’t hire someone without AI skills (what the heck, who all has that many AI skills?)
- 71% say they’d rather hire a less experienced candidate with AI skills than a more experienced candidate without them (this seems like a good way to get past the “how do you get experience without experience” situation)
- Only 25% of companies are planning to offer training on generative AI this year (this is annoying)
This made us kind of mad. Let’s get real, stuff like this makes YOU kind of mad too. You are not tolerating this sitting down. Instead, lots of you are not letting AI happen to your jobs…but are instead going out and happening to AI!
Many of you have decided: NO, AI is NOT going to take my job. I am going to dictate how AI will affect my job…and I am going to help others with jobs like mine as well.
We fondly call folks like you “AI Power Users.” Y’all are in industries all over the world. AI Power Users actively try out prompts, document what works (and what doesn’t), create Prompt Libraries to reuse prompts, and help people in similar jobs learn to use AI.
AI Power Users are creating new job categories in their fields 🤔
Okay so who ARE these mysterious people? Do we have any real examples?
SO GLAD you asked!
We are going to call out 3 of our friends who come from non-tech backgrounds who have done exactly this.
1. Ashley Francis – Ashley is a Tax Accountant based in Seattle, WA who is ALSO a true AI whisperer. She comes up with ways to use AI to do her job better AND coach others like her to do their job better. She creates prompts and automation for other tax professionals to simplify repetitive tasks AND she creates content to help normies (like us) have better conversations with their tax professionals.
Here is an example prompt from Ashley (which we both totally didn’t try out and use in our own lives; no reason).
Hi ChatGPT. I live in the U.S. and have beginner knowledge of tax law. I am really disorganized and, as tax season approaches, am feeling overwhelmed. I’ve hired you as a tax coach because of your tax expertise and years of experience helping people efficiently and effectively work with their CPA. You have a Masters in Taxation and spent 30 years working with individuals before you started your coaching business. You are kind and supportive, provide concrete recommendations, and ask follow up questions. You write at the 5th grade reading level.
Please create a questionnaire of the most important things that you need to know about me.
Can you make me an action item checklist to get organized with my taxes for this year?
Can you please provide me with a list of questions to ask my CPA based on my situation? Please make sure there’s enough context in the question and assume tax planning is not part of the engagement. Also, please note if there’s an IRS publication I can review about the particular question, so I understand their response better.
Thank you so much. Can you please give me a list of where there are potential tax planning opportunities and provide resources on where I can learn more?
2. Derya Unutmaz – Derya is a T-cell immunologist at The Jackson Lab who praises AI in being a medical experimentation thought partner.
He says, “I am about to test a cancer immunotherapy idea that OpenAI’s o1 model gave me last week. While it still requires significant time and effort to carry out the wet lab work, if it works, it can be an incredible AI collaboration!”
3. Alice Ratcliffe – Alice is a lawyer at the UK law firm Burges Salmon. She realized the power of AI for other legal professionals and created an AI adoption program in her organization. Not only did she create custom prompts for lawyers, but she created a comprehensive legal prompt library.
An example prompt from Alice is:
Act as an experienced [role e.g. Pensions solicitor in England and Wales] who has drafted this comprehensive [describe the document e.g. report or advice note] on [insert a description of the topic e.g. potential assignment of annuity policies]. Review this document and draft an executive summary that concludes the analysis provided within it. Use British English and language so that it is clear and understandable to the [audience e.g. client]. [Do not use definitive language (e.g. “must” or “will”)]
Are you an AI Power User like these fab folks below? Do you want to BE one?
If so, holler back at us because we’d love to hear your story and help how we can!
Have a fab week, AI divas. Thank you!
💗 Dona and Jeremiah
